Teaching Philosophy: "I remind my students of the importance of taking ownership and embracing one’s own voice. Each voice is unique, each set of hands has a story to tell, and my goal for lessons is to nurture artists, of any age, so they may navigate their best route to self-expression."

Alicia Britton made her way to the East Coast from Minneapolis, MN, spending her undergraduate years at Westminster Choir College in Princeton, NJ for a BA in music for voice. After eight years of freelance work as a professional actor, singer, and composer, she is currently enrolled in the College of Fine Arts at Boston University for an MA in ethnomusicology. While she develops her concentration on “music and neuroscience,” she remains active with her personal artistic endeavors. Her passion to teach is equivalent to her passion for performance.

Alicia has been teaching since 2014 and has been with Note-worthy Experiences since May 2019.

We have had a very positive experience with Note-worthy Experiences. Our teacher, Alicia, has been amazing at figuring out ways to work with both my boys. My sons have autism but are very different with one another. Alicia is able to adapt her lessons to meet their needs and respond to however they are feeling on a particular day. She found that one boy will stay at the piano if he can improvise songs about sea animals. The other boy will sometimes sing with her and is gradually warming up to playing the keyboard. She has been very patient with his need to move around.

-Erica from Holliston

Alicia is an excellent and intuitive piano teacher. Not only does she have musical knowledge but also, and more importantly, the ability to keep very young children engaged. Her behavior management skills, enthusiasm and general kindness has enabled both my five and two year olds to fall in love with music. We are thrilled she is our teacher and we look forward to lessons each week.

-Katherine from Newton
