Dan Slyker was born in Miami Beach, Florida, into a Coast Guard family which allowed him to see and live in many places around the U.S. and Caribbean. Getting in trouble in 2nd grade on the school bus for constantly drumming with pencils on those sweet faux leather seats landed him a mandatory sentence in band class the following year. From there he never looked back, drumming in school bands and rock bands all through high school.

Wanting to continue in music, Dan enrolled as a performance major at the University of South Florida studying under Robert McCormick, Principal Percussionist for the Florida Orchestra. His work with children at after-school programs inspired him to become a teacher and he graduated with a degree in music education in 1996.

Over the next 14 years Mr. Slyker shared his love of music with thousands of elementary, middle school and high school students in the Hillsborough County school system in Tampa. He taught and developed curriculum for chorus, band, jazz band, general music, piano and guitar, and led extracurricular clubs for song writing, composing and recording.

Dan fell in love with New England during his first visit in 2006 and immediately knew he wanted to raise his children here. An opportunity arose to fulfill this dream when he auditioned to be an entertainer at the famous piano club, Howl at the Moon, which was opening a location in Boston in 2010. He earned his spot and in 2014 became the entertainment director of their satellite club at Patriot Place in Foxboro. He is currently running their Howl2Go New England division which brings dueling piano shows to events all over the region.

Being a performer and entertainer allows Dan to spend his days doing what he loves most: being the best dad in the world to his four amazing daughters ages 9, 10, 13 and 16. He is very excited and honored to be part of teaching team at Note-Worthy Experiences and is looking forward to sharing his love for music through teaching once again.
