Teaching Philosophy: "Playing Cello shouldn’t be hard, it should be just as easy as pouring a glass of your favorite beverage. Please allow me to help you learn how to play Cello with ease and efficiency.”

Born in Hong Kong, Johnny Mok started his cello studies at the age of five, and continued in the US in 2001. He earned his Bachelor of Music at the University of Alabama with Carlton McCreery, and Master of Music degree at The Boston Conservatory with Andrew Mark. Mok has played with the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra, Charleston Symphony Orchestra Tuscaloosa Symphony Orchestra, Cape Symphony, Santa Fe Symphony Orchestra and the New Mexico Philharmonic. He is currently an active performer and teacher in the Boston area. In addition to cello, Johnny also teaches beginner to intermediate piano. He offers lessons in Cantonese, Mandarin, and English. He teaches in-person and long-term online/virtual lessons.

Johnny has been teaching since 2010 and has been with Note-worthy Experiences since January 2018.

I would like to recognize Johnny for his outstanding teaching. My son was new to the cello last summer and Johnny has been wonderful.  He is kind, patient, and instructs very well.  At one point when my son felt a bit frustrated, Johnny adjusted his approach and my son responded very well.  Someone who can pivot quickly and find a new and successful approach is a sign of a great teacher!  We truly appreciate his dedication!
