Teaching Philosophy: "I believe that different students have different needs and as a music educator I need to be able to deliver instruction that is best for the individual or group. It is important to set individualized standards for all students with the same goal in mind- achieving their best. To achieve this goal a student’s instruction must work towards not only improving proficiency with an applied instrument but towards creating a well-rounded musician. To this end a student must not only develop bodily awareness and a solid fundamental skill base for playing their instrument but also develop understanding of fundamental music theory and aural skills to achieve a final result that is both musical and technically sound. I strive to be prepared to provide instruction using visual stimulus, modeling, hands-on direction, and technology. I am prepared to teach through basic exercises both standard and custom made for the student and through repertoire studies. I believe every student has a unique level of excellence and I can make each one shine through personalized instruction."

Steve is great and now my son doesn’t want to stop taking lessons, plans to play in middle school and wants to try out for the Jazz band! I’m so grateful that music may be where and how my youngest finds his place. We are looking forward to participating in your spring concert and I am ever grateful for the confidence he’s gained because of his lessons with Steve.
