Teaching Philosophy: "Teaching is not secondary to my career…I enjoy seeing my students’ success and truly want to have flute students who achieve excellent results as they become better flutists and, most importantly, acquire a lifelong love of music. I have successfully taught all levels from beginners to advanced, elementary school through college. My bottom line goal is for my students to learn, grow and succeed as they explore playing music of diverse styles and from diverse cultures and, above all, for them to enjoy achieving their goals, whatever their level."
Biography: Alice is a flutist and Juilliard graduate, with a broad range of professional experience in orchestras, chamber groups and as a soloist, including 9 years as a member of the San Francisco Opera Orchestra, a national tour as Principal Flute with the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and 2 years as Principal Flute with the London, Ontario Symphony and Sinfonia.
Along with her music degree, Alice holds a M.S.Ed. from Sarah Lawrence College. Her broad experience as a flutist, teacher and performance coach is combined with a rich background of studying and playing with many great musicians in the New York area and beyond.
Currently, Alice is an Artist in Residence at Regis College in Weston, MA., where she has collaborated with the music faculty for choral concerts as well as planning and being the featured performer in fundraiser concerts for Doctors Without Borders. Her local orchestral playing includes concerts with the Longwood Symphony (including Principal Flute on a Hatch Shell concert in Boston), and Principal Flute in the Music for Peace Chamber Orchestra in 2022 in Harvard Square.
Alice recently moved closer to Boston (now living in Wellesley) after teaching privately and in local private schools on the North Shore. The recent pandemic times, although thankfully over, created a fulfilling new path of virtual performing for her and her students, including live Zoom concerts (coordinated with Virtual Bedside Concerts run by Harvard Medical School students) and recorded contributions for a nationwide playlist as part of Musicians on Call.
Alice began teaching in 1975 and joined Note-worthy Experiences in September 2024, where she teaches flute.
