Teaching Philosophy: "I set out to equip my students with the technique and musical knowledge needed to learn their repertoire and foster a sense of curiosity throughout their studies. I prefer to guide my students through asking questions and making connections between new and previous material, and encourage my students to ask me questions as well; identifying what we don’t know is just one of the ingredients that promotes life-long learning. It is important to me to keep lessons interesting and find intersections between cello and various other interests of my students (whether music-related or not). I support my students as musicians and people, just as my most meaningful teachers have for me. I help my students learn how to play and make music, but also how to perform and combat performance anxiety. While perfection is something we all strive for, the objective is to share our music with others and impact them for the better."

Biography: Amanda Emenecker is a Boston-based cellist originally from Sarasota, Florida prior to her move here. She received her Master of Music in Cello Performance at the Boston Conservatory, and a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from the University of South Florida. Having degrees in both education and performance, Amanda has a variety of experiences she draws on in her private teaching. Throughout her undergraduate studies, she taught practicums in numerous different music classrooms for string and wind players alike. She assisted in teaching cello in her undergraduate String Techniques class, where she helped fellow collegiate students with learning cello as a secondary instrument. During her studies in South Florida, she worked as a Cello Technician at local high schools, taught privately as well as through Music Showcase, a local music school, and led sectionals at Hillsborough’s All County during her senior year. Amanda has participated in a number of festivals and workshops including Apple Hill, Jacksonville Cello Workshop, Brancaleoni International Music Festival, Salem Cello Seminar, and Chosen Vale. Her primary interests are in contemporary and chamber music, in addition to the classical repertoire. Her recent performances include concerts with the Cape Ann Symphony, Horizons Ensemble, as well as two solo recitals this past Spring. Of her recent solo recitals, one of which was her graduate degree recital, and the other was awarded to her as winner of the Fivesparks competition hosted at the Boston Conservatory. Amanda is now growing her teaching studio and working on programming for her newly formed string quartet. She has performed throughout Florida, the northeastern United States, and Italy. Amanda has played for renowned musicians including Hans Jensen and Noreen Polera, and her cello instructors include Rhonda Rider, Scott Kluksdahl, and Helga Winold. Amanda graduated from the Boston Conservatory in Spring 2021 with her MM, and is currently working as an Administrative Assistant at Carriage House Violins. She is also an active freelancer in the Greater Boston Area, both as a soloist, chamber, and orchestral player.

Amanda has been teaching since 2015 and started with Note-worthy Experiences in December 2021. She teaches in-person and online lessons.
