Teaching Philosophy:
"I believe that as a music teacher, it should be our top priority to help our students fall in love with music. Of course correct notes and rhythms are also important in making beautiful music that makes us feel great about what we do. More than that, helping students find a way to express themselves through this art and to explore ways to appreciate music of different genres and styles will help them develop a greater understanding of music and will nourish their growth as people. I enjoy being part of the process to help students find what they like about music and getting them motivated to continue to share their love for music."
Christian Arroyo Castillo is an educator and performer who specializes in the woodwind instruments. Mr. A has had a variety of experiences as an educator, ranging from group teaching as a woodwind coach to private lessons within his saxophone studio, with students ranging from the K-12 grades and through college as well. He holds a B.M. in Music Education from San Diego State University.
As a performer, Mr. A has been seen within various orchestra, wind band, and musical theatre pits in the greater San Diego area and is beginning to expand to the Boston area.
In Boston, Mr. A looks to further his experiences as a M.M. in Multiple Woodwind Performance at Boston Conservatory at Berklee. He looks to focus on refining his performance so that he can take what he learns and apply it to his teaching background. With teachers in all the woodwind family instruments such as the flute, oboe, bassoon, clarinet, and saxophone, from both the San Diego Symphony as well as the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Mr. A is an excellent candidate to share his knowledge with beginning to advanced level students of varying ages.
He has been an educator since 2016, started with Note-worthy in December 2021 and he teaches in-person and online lessons.
