Teaching Philosophy: "My responsibility as a teacher is to ensure that my students have the knowledge, resources, and headspace to enthusiastically apply new ideas. My primary teaching goal is to empower students so that they can prepare to achieve their own goals."

Biography: CJ Waldrop, a dynamic professional trumpeter and baritone singer from Greer, South Carolina, brings a multifaceted musical background to the stage. While honing his primary focus on classical trumpet playing, CJ's diverse experiences in musical theater, opera, and a cappella enrich his musical perspective, allowing him to craft performances that are both impactful and inspirational. His vocal expertise shines through, adding a unique dimension to his musical expression.

Drawing from years of musical leadership, CJ approaches teaching with a keen understanding of individual and group dynamics, tailoring his methods to suit the needs of each student. His commitment to fostering creativity and skill development is evident in both one-on-one and group settings. His accomplishments include earning a quarterfinalist position at the 2025 National Trumpet Competition - Graduate Solo Division, winning the 2023 Wind Ensemble Concerto Competition at Boston Conservatory and completing two seasons with the Prague Summer Nights Young Artists Music Festival. Recently, CJ and a former classmate Alex Nagy formed Chop Break Duo, touring the east coast performing music for trumpet and piano. Vocally, CJ performs with the renowned Tanglewood Festival Chorus in performance with the Boston Symphony Orchestra and the Boston Pops.

CJ holds a bachelor’s degree in Trumpet Performance from Furman University, where he studied with Dr. Gary Malvern and Dr. Buddy Deshler, while also receiving vocal instruction from Dr. Craig Price. Currently pursuing a master’s degree in Trumpet Performance at Boston Conservatory, CJ continues his studies under the mentorship of Joseph Foley for graduation in 2025. His dedication to musical excellence paired with a passion for teaching positions CJ Waldrop as a standout artist and educator.

CJ began teaching in 2021 and joined Note-worthy Experiences in July 2024.
