Philosophy: One of the great hallmarks of humanity is that of the arts, an innate desire for and expression of all that is beautiful and meaningful in the world. It is what differentiates humans from other animals; the gift of consciousness brings all together in one pursuit of beauty, uniting one with the rest of the world. Even within the great forms of art, however, music stands out to me as being unique, somehow being able to conjure up the most personal and hidden aspects of the soul, inaccessible through other mediums. Perhaps this can only be the case as music is truly first and foremost a language for humanity; the direct communication between soul to soul being unlike other forms of language, the rest being used merely to communicate from intellect to intellect. In this way, it is simultaneously the most primitive and advanced form of human expression: primitive in its intention, being to reach into the deepest depths of the heart, and advanced in its execution, the skill required to bend sound waves to the ear's liking requiring immense precision. Based on this, I see music as the ultimate medium for humanity to say what it needs to say, to speak its words and survive, for who knows, perhaps all the suffering souls of the world are just in need of a way to voice their pain.
