Teaching Philosophy: "Music has been such an incredibly positive force in my life, and if there is a way for me to help build or strengthen that connection for someone else, that feels like something very special. I do believe that it is not something that can be forced though. What I can do as a teacher is give my students comprehensive foundational skills and new perspectives paired with a focus on the music that inspires them, and then hope that they turn it into something remarkable!"

Biography: Kai Lance is a freelance musician, composer, and educator based in the Boston area. He is currently studying at the New England Conservatory of Music, pursuing a bachelor of music degree in Jazz Performance. 
At NEC, Kai has studied with Ran Blake, Jerry Bergonzi, and Nasheet Waits, among others. Since moving to Boston in 2022, Kai has performed around the northeast with his own groups, as well as Mark Tipton, Bruno Bruni, and others, at venues including Darryl’s Corner Bar, The Apohadion Theater and Fiction Bar. Kai grew up in the Research Triangle area of North Carolina where he has performed at local venues and festivals including Sharp 9 Gallery, the ArtsCenter and Shakori Hills. In addition to performing, Kai is a music educator with experience teaching individual and group lessons.

​Kai began teaching in 2019 and joined Note-worthy Experiences in October 2024.
