Teaching Philosophy: "My teaching philosophy is to instill a state of constant wonder and curiosity for music of all forms."
Kailey Zercher began her violin studies in a Suzuki method program at the age of nine, which taught her the importance of training your ear from the very beginning. She honed in her classical skills through youth orchestras and quartets, playing master classes with Rachel Podger, Dr. Stephen Redfield and Carmelo de los Santos, as well as performing with Grammy nominee Guillermo Figueroa. She even went on a three-week tour in Brazil with a Swiss youth orchestra, Crescendo. She was the concert master and winner of a concerto competition in the Santa Fe Youth Symphony Orchestra.
From then on, Kailey has pursued the unconventional in violin genres. After beginning her undergraduate studies at Berklee College of Music as a performance major, she has become proficient in free improvisation, jam band, jazz, rock, funk, blues, pop, Middle Eastern and Latin genres, on top of her orchestral and quartet ensemble experience. She has studied with such professors and performers as Jason Anick, Mimi Rabson, Darol Anger, and Rob Thomas. Kailey has performed multiple concerts in Boston Symphony Hall with the Berklee Contemporary Symphony Orchestra, and has performed with multiple artists at the Berklee Performance Center and Kresge Auditorium, including Aloe Blacc, Bilal, Miguel Atwood-Ferguson, Chris Turner, and Jacob Collier. Kailey currently writes for and tours with her alt-rock band, The Womps, and plays with an Indian-Chilean fusion band called Mogati. The Womps have recorded two singles online, and will be releasing their 12-song debut album in the next few months.
Kailey has been teaching since 2012 and has been teaching online with Note-worthy Experiences since April 2018.
