Teaching Philosophy: "My philosophy as a drum instructor centers on making music a joyful and transformative experience. I aim to create an inspiring environment where students of all levels feel empowered to explore their rhythm.
I believe passion is contagious. By sharing my love for drumming, I ignite that spark in students, showing them it's a form of self-expression and fulfillment. Practice should be engaging, not tedious. I use playful exercises and challenges to make learning fun and rewarding, encouraging students to embrace progress.
I encourage experimentation and improvisation. While emphasizing creativity, I also provide a strong technical foundation in technique and music reading.
Recognizing each student's unique goals and musical preferences, I tailor my approach to provide personalized guidance. I strive to be a mentor, fostering a lifelong love for music. My goal is to always create a dynamic learning experience where students develop their skills and discover the joy of making music, unlocking their inner drummer."
Biography: Lanny Lovell is a seasoned drummer whose passion for music ignited in 5th grade and since then has only grown stronger! His journey began in Ohio, where he immersed himself in concert band, orchestra, and the electrifying energy of marching band. But his musical exploration didn't stop there. He was also laying down beats in a local band, "The Cubes," diving into the sounds of Elvis Costello, The Police, and Joe Jackson.
It was during his high school years that Lanny's drum teacher opened his ears to the soulful world of Blues and Jazz, sparking a lifelong fascination with diverse musical genres. This foundation led him to the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he honed his skills under the tutelage of legendary drummers like Joe Hunt, Ed Uribe, John Ramsay, and Bob Gullotti.
Lanny’s experience spans rock, funk, jazz, blues, and country, giving him a unique perspective and versatility that he brings to his teaching. Currently, he's laying down the groove with the original rock band, Sippin’ Whiskey Band, in Northern Massachusetts. He lives and breathes music.
Lanny began teaching in 2017 and joined Note-worthy Experiences in March 2025, where he teaches drums.
