Merit Scholarship Competition Guidelines
The 2021 NWE Merit Scholarship Competition will consist of two age groups (dependent on the number of participants), and the winner of each age group will be awarded a $200 cash prize. The non refundable entry fee is $40 per student which is due prior to February 5th. Payment may be made online through Zelle or Venmo, or sent by check to 75 Witherell Drive, Sudbury. MA 01776.
Students ages 9 - 17 are welcome to participate. The scholarship competition is a wonderful opportunity for students to gain performance experience and receive valuable feedback from a panel of experienced musicians.

Recorded Round 1 - February 5, 2021, 11:59 PM
- Students may not submit a piece that was previously submitted in a NWE competition
- Students should prepare two pieces of contrasting styles /eras
Final Round - May 16, 2021, 11:59 pm
- Students should prepare four pieces of at least two contrasting styles / eras
- Students may play pieces from the first round, however new videos must be submitted
- Due to the global health concerns the 2021 Final Round will be prerecorded in the same format as Round 1. The same rules apply from Round 1.
Both Rounds
- All pieces must be memorized
- Pieces must be at least 16 measures long
- Professional behavior and attire are expected
- Videos should be unedited and loaded into a link or format that the judges can access (an MP4 is preferred)
- Students should submit a completed copy of the top of the below evaluation form for the judge to use
- Students must submit copies of the scores used to learn the pieces
- One email with all the evaluation form, scores and video links should be submitted
- Video submissions should be emailed to rbordner@note-worthyexperiences.com
- No late entries will be accepted, no exception
- Students with outstanding tuition invoices are not eligible to participate
- Students under the age of 9 on February 5th may not participate
- Students over the age of 17 on May 16th may not participate
- Students must be registered with NWE and actively taking lessons in order to be eligible to participate
- All videos are subject to be shared on NWE social media
- A FREE online workshop for participants, parents of participants and instructors of participants will be held in June.
