This rock/jam ensemble series led by Nicco Centofanti will meet Mondays from biweekly from September 17 - December 17, 2018. The series is for students who have already attained an intermediate level of skill on their instrument and are looking to engage in group playing and live performance opportunities, in addition to further developing their technique, repertoire, and improvisational abilities. While working towards live performances at Note-Worthy events, students will also learn about the stylistic and cultural conventions of many styles of music that have influenced the rock idiom, and play a wide variety of music from the 20th century. Students will also participate in writing original music with the ensemble to perform live.
Prerequisites: * Intermediate skill on an instrument of the student's choice. * The ability and willingness to practice music for this course in addition to the music assigned for the student's regular private lesson. This course is open to all instruments, but drums, bass, and guitar/keyboards are necessary to form a rhythm section before "non-rock" instruments or vocals can be added.
Dates: 9/17, 10/1, 10/15, 11/5, 11/19, 12/3, and 12/17, 4:45 pm- 6:15 pm.
Cost: $35 per session.
