Teaching Philosophy: "The most important thing I can bring to a student is interest. If a student feels connected with what I am teaching, learning can become fun instead of forced. Each student brings in a different type of learning, and I like to really listen to the student before deciding exactly what style of music and learning will be the most appropriate. As is true in life, one's individuality and artistic taste should never be something the teacher is trying to change. It is my job to encourage this spark and further its expansion. Everyone I've met connects to at least a handful of musical genres or artists. I believe in allowing a student to explore his/her musical interest while maintaining work on appropriate material for growth and learning!"

Amy is the perfect teacher for us-8-year-old and 40-year-old first time piano students. She understands that children and adults learn differently and switches easily between teaching styles and techniques for each of us. She gently helps us work on "problem areas" (keep those wrists up!) and inspires us to improve our skills and perhaps most importantly, love music. Amy is flexible, attentive and encouraging. We love Amy!
