Teaching Philosophy: "I believe that once a student can read notes then he or she should have an active participation in choosing the music they learn to play. I enjoy teaching beginners and using positive reinforcement in lessons to foster a life-long love of learning music."
Biography: Renee holds a Bachelor’s Degree and a Master’s Degree in Education from The University of Toledo. Renee opened her first private piano studio in Pennsylvania in 2007. Since relocating to the Boston Metro West Area in 2012, the studio has expanded into a team of over 60 Note-worthy Experiences Music Studio Instructors offering more than twenty-five different instrument lessons to over five hundred and seventy-five students. As both an instructor and studio director, Renee has prepared students for National Piano Guild auditions, Royal Conservatory of Music auditions, play-a-thons, talent shows, has organized annual Winter Holiday and Spring Recitals, adult student events, and paid performances. She has created and directed Masters Classes for intermediate and advanced students and Music Enrichment Programs for home-schooled students. Renee currently serves as the Chair of the Sudbury Massachusetts Area Piano Guild Chapter and serves as a Judge on the American College of Musicians/National Guild of Piano Teachers Board of Judges. She has successfully prepared students for their National Piano Guild Auditions since 2008 and was made a Hall of Fame member of the National Piano Guild in 2019. She served as a judge for the recorded and live rounds of the 2018, 2019, and 2023 Note-worthy Experiences Scholarship Competitions. Renee also enjoys supporting small business owners in several local small business owner organizations and in her free time, Renee can be found volunteering for www.instrumentalangels.org a nonprofit that upcycles musical instruments for children and military veterans in need. She is also a member of the Sudbury Cultural Council, HOPEsudbury Board, and Ascension Parish.
Renee has a passion for teaching music, composition, and performance skills to students of all ages and abilities. She specializes in teaching students with learning differences and students who are younger beginners. Renee guides her students to reach their individual goals -- whether those goals are learning a favorite song or auditioning for a national competition. Whatever their musical goals, Renee encourages her students to share their experiences with their peers by participating in group events and performances. M. Steinert & Son of Boston has endorsed Renee Bordner as a Steinway & Sons Top Teacher each year since 2020. Renee was selected as a panelist for the June 2022 University of Massachusetts-Lowell Women's Leadership Conference. She was a panelist for the 2023 MetroWest Women's Conference. Renee was named the 2023 Business Person of the Year by the Sudbury Chamber of Commerce.

Renee is dedicated to music students of all ages and abilities, ranging from preschoolers to retirees, those with learning differences and those who are pursuing professional careers in music. She has taken on many leadership roles in the community to help women in small businesses, support guild activities in the greater metro area, support local school music programs, and operate a nonprofit to provide refurbished instruments to children in need around the world. She is a tremendous asset to our local community and the musical world at large!
