Teaching Philosophy: "Music lessons are a medium for discovery; as both a teacher and student, I believe lessons open doors to knowing more about the instrument, pieces, and technique, as well as collaboration, communication, and critical thinking. As an educator, I encourage my students to find balance in their practice and their learning; we will work together to make goals and plans that suit their needs. I believe that everyone can play an instrument when given the right time, attention, and environment!
I aim to empower and guide musicians to feel confident in their problem-solving abilities and to strive for musical excellence, all while learning about the art form and themselves. In lessons, we will use standard repertoire and string technique as well as music and concepts that specifically interest the student to create a well-rounded approach. I believe that making music with others and taking the opportunities to perform in front of an audience are also very important aspects of learning an instrument, and I strive to make those opportunities possible and attainable for all of my students. I love working with beginning string players of all ages and cellists of all levels!"
