Teaching Philosophy: "While performance is essential to my livelihood and education, I find that teaching offers experiences just as necessary to my growth as a person and a musician. How I convey information about music varies by individual. Relating to each student is as important as relating to fellow bandmates. I believe in tailoring each lesson to the individual by finding out what excites and inspires them about music. Each student has a unique learning approach, and it is my priority to help them best utilize their approach to foster their love for music."
Biography: I am a professional pianist and educator. I began playing piano at age 7 and began to pursue it seriously while attending Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in Dallas, TX. I received a full scholarship to the University of Miami's Frost School of Music, graduating with my Bachelor's degree. I received another scholarship to the New England Conservatory of Music where I obtained my Masters of Music in 2022. I have had the privilege to play with a number of incredible musicians over the past years. They include Maria Schneider, Jerry Bergonzi, Ingrid Jensen, Darmon Meader, and Lucy Woodward to name a few.
While I am a piano teacher, I also offer lessons in music theory, improvisation, and composition for any instrument. I have experience teaching all ages and abilities starting at 5 years old.
Rowan began teaching in 2014 and joined Note-worthy Experiences in August 2019. He teaches online piano lessons.
