Brandon White: Violin and Viola Teacher
Teaching Philosophy: "My ultimate goal as a teacher is to encourage students to develop unique ideas about what music can do for them, their community, and the ever-changing world around them. Our lessons together strive to devise technical and artistic strategies that work to unlock the student’s inner voice and inspire them to connect deeply with the music through their playing. I am a firm believer that well-rounded musicianship is achieved through consistent work with musical building blocks such as aural skills, music theory, and rhythmic exercises - and I incorporate these into lessons because I believe each is an invaluable asset to a student’s progress and comprehension. Above all, I believe in showing support at every stage, encouraging determination and resilience in the face of challenges, and helping each and every student realize the limitless possibilities that exist through this extraordinary art form."

Biography: Noted in artistic reviews for his “alluring stylings on violin” (The Keene Sentinel) and “great passion for his craft”, violinist Rowan Gemma graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance from Boston Conservatory at Berklee in 2024, where he studied under Saúl Bitrán. He is a candidate for a Master of Music in Composition degree with a concentration in Violin at Longy School of Music, where he will be studying with John Morrison starting in fall of 2024. He previously studied violin with Elise Kuder and Maisa’a Hanbali through the Keene Community Music Center.

During his time at Boston Conservatory, Rowan served as Concertmaster of the Dance Orchestra and Assistant Concertmaster of the Composers’ Orchestra and of Hemenway Strings, the school’s premier string ensemble. He also held a position as a Scoring Sessions Project Assistant at Berklee College of Music and was a member of the Conductors’ Orchestra. He has appeared as soloist with the Keene Chamber Orchestra and has had recital experience in venues such as Carnegie Hall’s Zankel Hall, the Kaufman Music Center, and Auditorium Parco Della Musica in Rome, Italy. Upon graduating from Keene High School, where he was a two-time recipient of the National School Orchestra Award, he was awarded the New Hampshire American String Teacher Association Scholarship. Rowan was a member of the Boston Philharmonic Youth Orchestra from 2018 to 2024, embarking on international tours to Brazil, South Africa, and Europe.

Rowan began teaching in 2023 and joined Note-worthy Experiences in May 2024 where he teaches violin and viola.
