Teaching philosophy: "My goal as a teacher is to help students achieve the artistic vision they have in their mind. A big part of this is to learn the instrument completely so that it's like an appendage that we can freely express ourselves through. I teach this by working with students on the basics of the instrument, scales, arpeggios, repertoire, etc. In addition to this, I work with my students on developing their own musical concepts, and finding out what sounds, styles, and pieces they love. They then can develop this by writing, transcribing, and learning new pieces. I also always encourage my students to look for opportunities to play music with others, as I think that's the only way to really apply the discoveries made by practicing and in lessons. Ultimately, I want to help my students become creative artists and for them to enjoy creating music."
